Bill Prohibiting the Denial of the October 7, 2023 Massacre Events (Simchat Torah Massacre) (Amendment - Prohibition of Denying Abduction and Holding of Hostages in Captivity), 5786-2025

This bill seeks to add to the existing law a prohibition on denying the abduction and holding of hostages in captivity, in the context of the Simchat Torah massacre events (October 7, 2023). The proposed law will apply to any person who denies the fact of the abduction or the holding in captivity of those who were abducted. The proposal is intended to address the phenomenon of denying the abduction of released hostages, which deepens the social and national wound. The state sees an obligation to protect released hostages and their families from this harm, and therefore it is proposed to codify the denial as an offense in law, similar to the existing prohibition on denying the massacre events themselves.
