The law extends the temporary provision which stipulates that only public entities shall pay for the distribution of broadcasts via digital transmission stations in the "Idan Plus" network. Originally, the temporary provision was set to expire at the end of 2024, and the law extends it until the end of 2025. This means that until the end of 2025, private entities broadcasting via "Idan Plus" will not be charged for the distribution of their broadcasts, while public entities will continue to pay as usual. The sponsors believe that the operation of the network should be funded by the state and that broadcasts on it should be free to the public. They seek to extend the temporary provision to ensure that private channels continue to be distributed for the benefit of the public without charge, until a different decision is made or a new arrangement on the matter is legislated.
