Compulsory Education Bill (Amendment - Social Worker or Educational Psychologist in an Educational Institution in a Border-Adjacent Community), 5783-2023

The bill stipulates that in educational institutions in communities adjacent to the border, where some of the local children are located within a range of 7 to 9 kilometers from the Lebanese border, or within a range of up to 7 kilometers from the Gaza Strip, it will be mandatory to employ a social worker or an educational psychologist. The presence of this professional in the educational institution will be for at least 10 hours per week. The proposal is intended to address the mental health difficulties of children living in these areas, who are affected by the tense security reality, sirens, and security incidents. The purpose of the proposal is to ensure that students and their parents can turn to an available and nearby professional when necessary.
